The USA celebrate Independence Day today so we thought we'd have a US themed blog!

Having recently returned from visiting family in Mississippi, I couldn't help notice whilst I was there all the Fourth of July themed party hats, paper plates, bunting and banners in the supermarkets and many American flags flying from various buildings in preparation of Fourth of July celebrations.

In Mississippi I enjoyed a variety of food (and drink) including a selection of traditional Southern creole cooking, BBQ steak, red beans and rice and a couple of take away pizzas and Chinese meals!

Although being in the Deep South country and surrounded by cotton and corn fields, you can’t get away from the enormous outdoor advertising whilst driving along the miles of long, flat interstates and highways. Just about every road exit advertises the typical food chain stops such as McDonalds, Wendy’s, Waffle House, Denny’s and Cracker Barrel along with the local Casino or Country Music venue.

So, when I saw this article  showing each State’s most famous brand I thought it was interesting.

Apparently Mississippi’s most famous brand is Peavey Electronics Corporation which is one of the world's largest manufacturers and suppliers of musical instruments and professional audio equipment. Although I wasn’t familiar with the brand itself, it comes as no surprise that this is a music related company in the heart of country!

Hooters was not such a surprise for Florida’s most famous brand, or Tabasco for Louisiana! See what you think and some may come as a surprise!
